About U-10 Basketball

U-10 games are played with:

  • 4 players per side

  • 8’ 6" nets

  • 10 shifts - 3 minutes and 20 seconds in duration

  • 27.5cm ball

  • Fair play (everyone gets an equal number of shifts)

  • Minimal focus on scores (score clock is reset at the beginning of
    each shift)

The Basketball season begins in mid-October. It kicks off with a U-10 jamboree (a fun tournament) against other U-10 teams within the Kings Hants League. In mid November season games begin. Each team plays 8-10 games between November and February (a 2-3 week break in the games for Christmas is typical). Half of these games will be home games (played in KMBA gyms). The other half will be away games played in host gyms between Kennetcook and Greenwood.

In mid-February, once league games are finished, U-10 players have a league end jamboree. The costs for all of the league games and jamborees are included in the registration fee. At the end of February, teams have the option of attending the provincial jamboree (2 day fun tournament, playing teams from across the province). The cost of this jamboree is the responsibility of the team. Fundraising or shared cost among players is recommended.
