About KMBA
It is KMBA’s mission to develop and provide quality basketball programs that support the long-term athletic development of youth in our area and enhance their on-going interest in the sport of basketball. We will ensure that that all children in our catchment area (school districts of Coldbrook, Cambridge, Berwick and Somerset) have an equal opportunity to learn and participate in the sport of basketball and attain personal growth in a respectful and positive environment. Where we Play
KMBA practices and home games are based out of the Berwick, Coldbrook and Somerset gymnasiums. Additional practices may be occasionally held at EMS, CK and NSCC as required. Away games are held at the hosting facilities, in gyms from Kennetcook to Greenwood.
What is the Commitment
Basketball season begins in October and finishes after the provincial tournaments (March- April depending on the level)
Who are our players
Quickstart players (5-7yrs old) – practice once weekly (Saturday mornings @ 9:00-10:00 a.m.) with the exception of Christmas and season end jamborees which run over 3 hours.
U-10 (8-9 yrs old) – practice one week-night and play or practice once each weekend. Typically play 10 league games throughout the season (half are home games, half are away games). Finish with a Provincial Jamboree in Halifax in late February.
U-12 (10-11 yrs old) – practice two week-nights and play or practice once each weekend. Typically play 10 league games throughout the season (half are home games, half are away games). They also play a minimum of two additional seeding games before finishing with their Provincial tournament in late March. Additional tournaments are at the discretion of the coaches, athletes and parents.
U-14 (12-13 yrs old) – practice two week-nights and play or practice once each weekend. Typically play 10 league games throughout the season (half are home games, half are away games). They also play a minimum of two additional seeding games before finishing with their Provincial tournament in late March/ early April. Additional tournaments are at the discretion of the coaches, athletes and parents.
